Italian style grilled rib-eye steak

Michelle

Italian style grilled rib-eye steak is a Southern Italian classic. The steak is grilled perfectly to medium-rare, sliced and then topped with Parmesan cheese shreds and balsamic glaze. In Italy this is known as Tagliata di manzo. It translates simply to slices of beef, but it is so much more than that!

Grilled rib eye steak tastes amazing with Parmesan cheese and balsamic glaze

You can use any good cut of steak for this, but our favorite go-to steak is always a classic rib-eye or porterhouse cut. It’s a healthy way to eat lean beef. I love serving it on a bed of peppery arugula. Arugula is also known as “rocket” lettuce. Its peppery flavor pairs great with beef. The whole dish is drizzled with balsamic glaze. Balsamic glaze is a reduction of balsamic vinegar. You can make it at home or buy it at finer supermarkets. This dish is perfect for a dinner party on a hot summer’s day.

The steaks are simply seasoned with only a small amount of fine sea-salt and freshly ground pepper. That’s all they need. The fresh natural flavor of the beef is enhanced by the balsamic glaze and salty Parmesan cheese pieces.

I recommend pairing Italian style grilled rib eye steak with a simple vegetable or side salad, such as a caprese salad (tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, basil, extra virgin olive oil, salt and pepper).

Grilled rib-eye steak sliced thin pairs deliciously with peppery arugula, salty Parmesan cheese and sweet balsamic glaze. Your next BBQ will be fantastico!

  1. 1-2 rib-eye steaks

  2. 1 handful arugula

  3. 1 handful Parmesan cheese (ribbons)

  4. 1 pinch salt and pepper

  5. 1 drizzle balsamic glaze

  6. Season your steak simply with only a small amount of fine sea-salt and freshly ground pepper. Set aside.

  7. Prepare your grill. Thinly slice pieces of Parmesan cheese and tear up medium sized pieces of arugula lettuce.

  8. Place the steaks on the hot grill. Once your steak is grilled to perfection (medium rare) and rested for a few minutes, thinly slice the beef and arrange on a platter. Top the beef with the Parmesan cheese and arugula. Drizzle the balsamic glaze lightly around the platter and over the steak. Serve immediately.

Pairs deliciously with your favorite red wine and a caprese salad.
